Located north-west of Malé, Baa Atoll is a designated UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, primarily because of the amazing marine life found at Hanifaru Bay. Whale Sharks and Manta Rays can be seen here in significant numbers. The Parrot Fish is also an important marine species found in the waters around Baa Atoll.
Baa Atoll comprises 75 islands, of which 13 are populated. It is a half hour seaplane flight from Malé. Visitors can alternatively take a domestic flight to Dharavandhoo Domestic Airport and thereafter take a transfer boat to the resort island of their choice.
