Made up of 54 islands, Lhaviyani Atoll is an active tourist destination. The atoll is referred to as Faadhippolhu locally, and is an administrative division of the Maldives. Five of the islands within the atoll are inhabited, while a number of other islands are home to luxury resorts.

Lhaviyani is located in the northern region of the Maldives, and is accessible from Male airport via a 30-40 minute seaplane flight. A new domestic airport is expected to open on the island of Madivaru soon, making the atoll even more easily accessible to visitors. Naifaru, the capital of the atoll, is famed for its mother-of-pearl handicrafts, a popular souvenir among many visitors.
