Also known as Northern Miladhunmadulu Atoll, Shaviyani Atoll is an administrative division, located in the north of the Maldives. The atoll which lies about 270 km north of Malé can be reached by a 55-minute scenic seaplane flight. It consists of 51 islands, of which just 16 are inhabited.

Funadhoo island is the capital of the atoll and it recently opened its own domestic airport. The atoll is not highly developed yet, which means much of the natural beauty of the islands remain untouched.
